Nerdy for the rest of the time. Started with computers on an Atari800XL, C64, then Amiga 500. RTFM'd since Linux Kernel 1.1, switched to *BSDs in 2022/23 and now happily using different #RunBSD as main desktop OS'.

Contributed/coded for "UADE - Unix Amiga Delitracker Emulator", a music replay engine of Amiga music files for *nix.

Tinkers with soft/hardware.

Das Bild zeigt einen kleinen, länglichen und nach oben abgerundeten Stein, dessen Form an einen Hinkelstein erinnert. Der Stein wurde rundherum so bemalt, dass er selbst zum Körper von Obelix wird. Auf der Vorderseite sind Obelix’ Gesicht mit den roten Zöpfen, sein nackter Oberkörper sowie der grüne Gürtel mit großer gelber Schnalle zu sehen. Darunter setzt sich seine typische blau-weiß gestreifte Hose bis zum unteren Rand des Steins fort. Seine Füße stehen auf einer kleinen grünen Wiese, die mit roten Pilzen und Blumen verziert ist. Der obere, dunkelgraue Teil des Steins bleibt weitgehend unbemalt und wirkt dadurch wie ein Hinkelstein, der hinter Obelix aufragt. Die Rückseite löst den kleinen optischen Scherz auf: Dort fehlen Kopf und Oberkörper völlig. Stattdessen sieht man nur Obelix’ Arme, die sich von beiden Seiten um den grauen Stein legen. Seine Hände greifen hinter dem „Hinkelstein“ ineinander. Darunter sind wiederum die gestreifte Hose und seine Füße auf der Wiese zu erkennen.

This is the first genuinely operational littleFedi instance.

It has been online since 1st July, is single-user (just me), and runs on a Raspberry Pi Zero W powered by NetBSD, directly on its SD card.

It consumes just under 1W.

Its database is this size:

That is, just a little over 100 MB. Yes, MB.

Its average CPU load is extremely low.

It is perfectly usable both from the web interface and from Mastodon API apps.

I have 401 followers and 169 followings, and it doesn't bat an eye.

I promise myself to use it more, and I will.

You don't need Big Tech to communicate with others.

You don't need an expensive data center to exist online.

Because we are people, and the bits are just extensions of our voice.
