I have never seen either, to be honest.

LLMs

While I normally try to avoid the doom-tooting, it just seems to be a too realistic way forward for those PE-driven Bastards in c-suites to willfully bind themselves to those snakeoil Bastards and yeet their valuable knowledge workers.

LLMs and the destruction of knowledge worker jobs

Ways to feed my anxiety: reading this reddit post about an Austrian tech company starting to pressure first level support to quit in favor of chatbots... Hits a tad bit too close to home. Reddit-Post

@francois @colinstu@birdbutt.com oh wow thats crazy; I am guessing you had whatsapp at some point then?

I have had that before where a service thought I was reachable because I had signed up to it in the past and there was no way to delete an account as far as I could tell. So I just didnt use it anymore, and one would think that if you haven't used their app for some time it should notify the sender, right...? Wrong, apparently.

"interior designer reviews architects plans"

Such a great and insightful series, fun to watch (if one is interested in the topic, which I am)!

(The original architects should be ashamed about creating so "sluggish" floorplans!

Getting old isn't a problem...

English

Aging is not a problem; it is a natural part of life,
like becoming young after childhood, like becoming
an adult and maturing after adolescence and youth.
Aging is not a problem; it is a transition like the
others. One hardly notices the passage of time, and
suddenly, one day, you are there, at the threshold of old age.
You begin to walk more slowly, to expect less from life
and from people; you have less strength, both physical
and moral. But you also understand many things more deeply.
You begin to feel more tired, yet also more at peace.
You have fewer ambitions, but also fewer fantasies.
Aging is not a problem; the problem lies in not realizing it,
being unable to accept it, or fearing it. One might fear
entering this stage because one knows it is the last;
there is no other age to follow. It is the final crisis,
the final transformation. One is afraid because one knows
there is no next chapter; afterwards, the end simply
arrives, everything comes to a close. That is the fear.
Perhaps as children we fear becoming adults because,
in some way, we sense there is an end, even though
we have only just begun.
Even so, we can move from one stage to the next with
a certain pride and great hope. But in this stage, old age,
there is no "after," no next destination.
And we begin to take stock: lamenting what never came to be,
knowing it never will, that there are no more chances,
and lamenting what did happen, because it wasn't enough.
The cookies in the tin run out; the chocolates in the
fridge door are gone. The glories, the struggles, and
even the drive to keep going gradually fade away.
Then, one wishes to tell children and grandchildren
to think carefully about everything, to make good decisions,
and to take care of themselves, because one day they
will reach this station, and the luggage they carry will be
either what they have dragged along all their lives
or what they have let go. This final chapter will be
strongly determined by all the preceding ones.
At every step of the way, we shape our ultimate destiny.

cuenta, no poder aceptarlo, tenerle miedo.

I was thinking that there's a feature on LittleFedique I haven't used or explored that would be interesting since I've been writing since I was a child. Pressed by my daughter and younger sister, I'm curating some of my writing and poems to publish something. They're taking care of it since I don't really feel like doing anything. My daughter is a linguistics and literature teacher and a writer (just like her father), and my sister also writes and has contacts with writers from my country. Well, I do too, but it's been many years since I've seen any of them.
So I'd like to share some things on the blog, as a way to practice. I'll do it in Spanish, my native language, and also translated into English. For translations, I use several online translators and then correct them based on my own self-taught knowledge of English.
In other words, try LittleFedi as a writer's blog.

@tootbrute@fedi.arkadi.one I think my favorite jazz "album" is the Centennial Trilogy by Chief Adjuah, and I highly recommend a listen 🎺

If you like that ☝️ you should also check out:

  • Yussef Dayes
  • Aaron Shaw
