A new adventure begins. How do you break away from Big Tech? In my case, an Apple iPhone.

My current contract with Odido (formerly T-Mobile in the Netherlands) was up for renewal. The question was whether to renew with or without a new cell phone. I chose “renew with a new cell phone.” I went with the #fairphone 6+.
Now I just have to wait for it to be delivered.

That means I’ll start by installing /e/OS on it. Then, step by step, I’ll figure out what challenges I’ll run into. Not so much because of /e/OS itself, but because of the switch from #iOS to /e/OS.

My goal is also to document this adventure step by step and publish it later. In my opinion, there’s simply not enough user experience out there. Hopefully, this will help others make the switch from big tech to an alternative.

To be continued

@andre No idea what you will pay in total with the renewal with Fairphone 6+, but I assume you didn't get the option to have it pre-installed with e/OS.

@AngelaScholder Exactly. And I can be open and honest with you (and the rest), pay €576 for the Fairphone 6+.
At Murena.com you pay €699.99 (thats incl. /e/OS)
At fairphone.com you pay €649.

So, not a really bad deal from Odido.

@andre No, that would be a good buy.

We paid at about 550 for the 6, but with e/OS pre-installed.
