If someone called you their best friend, and they weren't your best friend, would you tell them?

@evan I'd say only if they kept doing it and it was making me uncomfortable. If people get too close to me too fast it does get me uncomfortable and I'd at very least indicate that's not how I feel about them.
@evan No, that would be unnecessarily mean/hurtful to someone who cares about me. If they asked, I wouldn’t lie, but I wouldn’t volunteer the information because I know that hurts most people
It's late in the poll so I'm just going to reply.
I don't think being a best friend as an adult has many rules. If you can fulfill that role for someone, it's a real honour, even if someone different fulfills that role for you.
It doesn't have to be a symmetrical relationship.
I think if someone finds the time you spend with them unique and special, you can try to see it through their eyes. And take it as the compliment that it is.
So, I think I would say no, but. If it got really weird, fine. If it's a title someone grants you without additional strings attached, I say accept it with grace.
@evan No but I would try to make sure I was not sending out "you are my best friend" vibes by accident.
