I'm not sure about that. As said before, I think most people program because they have an itch to scratch - that's 99% of the software I wrote in non-professional capacity.

I think that will remain.

However yes, there is a huge risk of those people (including myself) stop making their software available to the others, precisely because they can't be bothered about useless flak.

And that is a shame, because that's how today's software landscape was created.

I think pretty much all of us use either a *BSD or Linux or both - and that's just the beginning.

Look at Mastodon ?

Even if it is clear than littlefedi is vastly superior (and I really mean this, kudos to the team), littlefedi probably wouldn't be there if Mastodon hadn't cleared the way.
