As we get older, walking is really just a controlled fall. We basically just put the next foot out right before we fall, until one day we do fall.

@kibcol1049@mstdn.social
That's one advantage of "floor living":
Sitting all day on the floor (in different positions, that is), you already are on the floor.
So, in case you fall, your fall becomes shorter, thus less hurt- and impactful ;)

@fasnix @kibcol1049 Minimalism is a scam perpetuated by Big Small to sell you more less.

Not sure what I should take away from your statement πŸ€”

@fasnix @kibcol1049 Don't take anything more away, you're falling into their trap.

(It's just an absurdist joke)

Personally, I don't see a trap there.
I'm on a 'minimalist journey' since ~12 years, earning less and less stuff.
Why?
Because most things I own don't have a substantial meaning to me.
My 'life goal' is to own as few things that (mostly) fit into a rucksack.
I'm on my way, still owning too much stuff.

@fasnix @kibcol1049 Surely the most minimalist journey you could take would be to not go anywhere?

(Still joking)

Well, yes and no:
most accidents happen at home.
Not sure, if win ;)

@fasnix @kibcol1049 Very true. Only the other day I fell into a comfy armchair next to an overloaded bookcase, I was trapped for hours.

@fasnix @woe2you @kibcol1049 In Cambridge there is a sign that points to the Rosie Maternity Hospital. Oddly it has added to it No Accident and Emergency. But I bet a few accidents got them pregnant and when the baby starts to come it is an emergency.

@John_Loader @fasnix @woe2you @kibcol1049 Nonetheless, once when I was there someone showed up at the front door of the Rosie in cardiac arrest and a large team of people appeared very quickly to help. (Without, I think success.)

🎡 You're walking. And you don't always realize it
But you're always falling
With each step, you fall forward slightly
And then catch yourself from falling
Over and over, you're falling
And then catching yourself from falling
And this is how you can be walking and falling
At the same time. 🎡

@kibcol1049 Laurie Anderson did a very nice piece about this, where she leads up to the lines, "And this is how/You can be walking/And falling/At the same time".
