I am very much enjoying hacking on 11ty in order to make a podcast page.

It's kind of niche, but it gets to the heart of something I'm feeling pretty strongly about right now: protocols are better than platforms.

I can spin up a website that serves a podcast because podcasts are based on a protocol. If 11ty/Build Awesome ever reaches EOL¹, I could port the SSG to something else, or just hand write some XML and make my own HTML/CSS frontend.

If I depend on a podcast distribution platform, I'm at their mercy.

Educating folks about that difference is how we start to claw back control.

¹ I'm not suspecting anything bad will happen with 11ty now that they're rebranding into Build Awesome, things seem like they're going well, etc
