I really, really wish that I could have more granular email settings for Bandcamp releases I might be interested in 🙏
Specifically, I wish I could turn off emails for singles and merch. I understand why artists want to promote those things, but I'm never going to purchase them. I purchase albums and discographies only.
I don't want to turn emails off completely, but I follow 1656 artists + labels and the emails are becoming unmanageable—I'm drowning in them 😖

I love how you are only able to see messages from the app and the messages section just doesn’t exist in the browser. Fucking why!?
I love how I can search for the exact artist name and track I’m looking for and the search will be unable to find it. The search function in general is fucking shit.
I love how the tags mean absolutely nothing due to people being unable to tag their music fucking accurately!
I love how I can click on a bandcamp link, within the bandcamp app and it won’t fucking open it. It opens a fucking browser instead.
All these issues have existed for 10 years or more at this point but thats OK because 6 years or so ago they introduced playlists. Wow, thanks!
The emails are fucking obnoxious so I have them all blocked. I rely on getting notifications for new releases on my phone because I don’t want the email spam but then quite often it won’t notify me of new announcements or releases for artists I follow or even for releases I have in my wishlist and I am waiting for.
Bandcamp has always been the best place to find releases within my niche interests but fuck me the user experience has not changed in over a decade and it has always been absolute trash.

I used to get push notifications for new release updates, but I was getting way too many of those. I thought if I went with email and used a filter to shunt those emails into a special inbox that I could still get the benefit of notices without the constant pinging… But of course the problem now is that I end up with a special inbox full of unread notices 😅
What I may have to do is trim my followed accounts so I get fewer notices, but that's a daunting task with over 1,600 followed accounts. And what metric do I use to decide which to drop?
I fear that any "solution" I come to is going to be an unsatisfactory one 😞
I think your back is against the wall with this one as there doesn’t really seem to be a satisfactory solution with the crap tools they give you.
If I could have a front page that listed all new releases etc in order that would be good but the “music feed” constantly throws in old releases or constantly repeats suggestions from the few tags that I do follow, then my previous issue with use of tags rears its head again xD
Good luck in your battle xD I skimmed my follows down to around 600 and it can still get bad, especially around bandcamp Friday!
Alternatively, I wish Bandcamp offered RSS feeds, one for releases and the other for the community tab. If the artist wants to promote something, he/she can do so without cluttering the main part of the platform.
