Dear Mastodonians
I am very pleased to announce the release of my latest film "Final countdown".
Over the past months I have been thoroughly researching the Ukraine war, to bring you a well founded analysis and answer the key question: Is Putin losing the war?
I have good news… so watch it for free on YouTube:

@randahl A great movie, thank you! 💪🏻 One observation - I am not a zoologist but I’m pretty sure I see a hedgehog 🦔 where you describe a porcupine 😊
@dzedus you are absolutely right. This is because Von der Leyen uses the term porcupine, and her being of German descent, I am pretty sure what she means is hedgehog. Here in Europe we only have porcupines in southern Italy, while hedgehogs live all over western Europe.
Technically it is incorrect, but I hope that the message comes across just fine, because I think her point is important.
@randahl Things do not look pretty for Putin, but Russia has not yet lost, and is not to be discounted yet. It is up to our support and participation to make that happen. I'm going to Ukraine by the end of next week by the way, to contribute my support to Ukrainian people.
@jajo unfortunately, I could not get them to perform during the show. That would have been awesome!😀
@randahl
Maybe it could get more exposure if you checked if news or current affairs programs are looking for guest commentary?
@ChrisHolladay that is a good suggestion, Chris. But remember, I am located in South Denmark, so all the major stations are quite far away. CNN is in London and DW is in Bonn, Germany.
Anders Puck has done this, though. He appears regularly on Danish national tv, DR, and I suppose there is some synergy in that. But he also lives just around the corner from their main offices in Copenhagen.
@cprey I already have — my last video was, "The narcissist":

@randahl Dammit, Randahl, I followed you ages ago because you're clever and funny and have a funky hairstyle--and only now do I discover that you are also smart and insightful and I'm going to have to read your posts more closely.
@randahl I hope I will never get used to how natural and casual and even cheerful people talk about killing now.
@irom I respect your criticism. My intention is not to glorify war. My intention is to find hope in a very difficult time.
@randahl I didn't assume glorification on your part. I read the the bits with the cheerful music just as good video making. Now you've said you want to give hope, that is fitting too.
What I meant was accepting and normalizing the killing of millions of people. The destruction of a country. The suffering that will reach far beyond the end of the war.
It's hard to square this with justified self-defence, at the same time it cannot be simply omitted.
@irom out of interest, who would you say has the right to define what is and is not justified regarding the Ukrainian people's assertion of their right to exist?
I find that when I think in terms of who has the right to define it (rather than assuming it's me for some reason), it puts my stakeless and external opinion into the appropriate context of "counsel available to be sought," rather than falsely posed as a determination backed by the right to make that determination.
@irom that's a real question but I got a bit waffly.
a better way to phrase it: how important are Ukrainian lives in your evaluation process?
@falcennial I don't understand how your question relates to what I wrote. My point was about the way most people and the media talk about war now. Is your question a new topic or is there a connection? Is it about my last paragraph?
I've had bad experiences trying to discuss complex topics on Mastodon, so I'm not sure how far I will go with this.
@randahl released a video with an interesting twist on reality -- the sun rises in the north according to Randahl Fink. Or maybe that's Vladimir Putin's head essploding?
@kewball ha! 😀
That is funny. I have done weeks of video editing, weighing multiple solutions to every scene, tuning every detail. But that I did not see.
It does look kind of odd.
@DarioZanette Thank you Dario. I am just grateful that there is something positive to report in this dreadful war.
For Russia, it is coming home.
@randahl watched to video and it was again a really good one. However, Putin did succeed in 1 thing which can not be overlooked and overstated. He destabilized the world with his politics. Africa, Europe…playing buddy with Trump, and other dictators.
@bigbelgianbopper I believe you are right, it has been helpful that Trump was elected, and that the AfD is advancing in German politics, but look at what Putin has lost on the world stage:
Wagner shredded in Mali, bases lost in Syria and Assad gone, Moldova, Armenia and Azerbaijan moving closer to the EU, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan too, Finland and Sweden entering NATO, Japan increasingly taking a confrontational stance, oil countries working against him, etc.
@randahl true. But having lots of small cells that can work mayhem with drones, small explosives, online trollcenters… It gives him lots of strings to pull. And Russia still has mass enough to emerge from a Europe/world in tatters
