I have two pet peeves with studio recordings:
- Cuts that fade out.
- Cuts that end on seconds (or minutes) of silence.
Please, for the love of deer gods, just give the cut a proper ending 🙏
Just tried (numerous times) to submit an opt-out of prescreened offers on OptOutPrescreen.com. (This is the FTC's official remedy for opting out of prescreened offers.) Neither the 5-year electronic opt-out nor the permanent mail-in opt-out work. (You have to fill out an electronic form to, presumably, get to the form to print and mail.) Every attempt brings me to a page that reads:
We're sorry!
An error has occured [sic] while processing this page. Please try again. If issues persist, please submit your request through our toll-free telephone number, 888-567-8688.
The phone number is entirely automated, and the decision tree is awful. I'm not at all convinced that my attempt there will be honored either, but I'm not doing that one more than once.
I'm under no illusion that any of that ☝️ is just innocent technical problems. These shitheads intentionally make the process of opting out as difficult as possible to discourage people from trying in the first place and/or trying again when the first attempt(s) fail.
Oh, also, there's a separate site, DMAchoice.org for opting out of direct mail advertising. A person has to pay $8 to opt-out for 10 years. There isn't a permanent option.
