@cmccullough That's awesome that they're making a choice and including a default option. I've tinkered with FreeBSD a few times, but having to set up a desktop environment manually was always a little annoying.

@cmccullough I follow your posts about FreeBSD. I've been tempted to install it, but I don't know if it's better than any other Linux distro. Can you tell me more about it?

@kris@social.lol I'm just now getting back into learning how to use it. It's been nearly 20 years since I last ran it. In my limited knowledge, I don't think it's really any better than any other Linux distro. I am sure there are some BSD users that would disagree with me, though, and would be able to tell you why they think it's better. The main reason that I'm getting back into FreeBSD is because of rampant AI usage in many Linux projects and because of the comments from Torvolds about those of us who are anti-AI. I will continue updating my journey and I hope it will answer some of your questions. Thanks for the reply, by the way!

@cmccullough I have been paying attention to FreeBSD and their drive to improve their installer for quite a while. Particularly with integrating DE/WM installation in the process.

Much like Linux does already, but since FreeBSD develops everything as a harmonious unit instead of random pieces duct-taped to the Linux Kernel (mostly joking).

I have been excited to see if they can modernize the FreeBSD installer and hardware support in a satisfying way.
