I definitely recommend screen. I have been using it for years and it never disappointed me.
A must if you work on remote computers and have to launch longish jobs, or simply are on some machines on and off.

I got spoiled with tmux, but I really need to try screen.

I remember a coworker who worked in accounts recievable at the clinic I worked at in 2000 using GNU Screen on her WYSE terminal connected to our SCO Unix server running the medical practice management software we used at that clinic.

Flip, how old am I, again?!? 😂

Don't worry about that.

I'm old enough to have worked on real solaris 😜 (and loved it too except the default shell)

PS: yes, some of my colleagues swore by tmux. Tried it and didn't like it too much, so went back to screen.
As long as you find something that works for you...
