Spider season started early on the Olympic Peninsula this year. Walking into webs every which way I go isn't my favorite thing in the world, but I do love the opportunity to photograph some cool arachnids. This particular spider is Callobius severus. My partner saved her from drowning, and I captured a bazillion photos while she recovered in the sun.

@patricksh@mas.to we were surprised to find this one here, for sure. C. severus may be common throughout the rest of the state, but this is the first one I've come across here. She was big, too. Impressively so.
