Last night, the VPS load monitoring for this instance showed a progressive increase. On one hand, we were expecting it, as the instance grows. On the other, it was higher than anticipated.
Upon investigating, we realised there was an inefficiency linked to two missing DB views, which was generating a mountain of queries whenever a federated activity arrived. Simply creating them was enough: the CPU load upon the arrival of each status dropped from 80% for two seconds to 0.50% for a fraction of a second.

@farooqkz@bsd.cafe no, this VPS is just a small FreeBSD VPS. The Raspberry PI instance is the @stefano@rpi0w.stefanomarinelli.it 's one. That was affected, too, but on a smaller scale as it's...smaller and one user.

Noted. I would be interested in a benchmark on RPi0 or Allwinner H3(NanoPi/Orange Pi) and compare different kernels. Also, is there a specific reason you run NetBSD on the tiny cheap SBCs rather than FreeBSD? AFAIK, all these boards also have got FreeBSD support.

@farooqkz@bsd.cafe @stefano@rpi0w.stefanomarinelli.it FreeBSD will drop support for armv6 and armv7 quite soon, while NetBSD will continue to support them for a long time. I think NetBSD is more suitable, for those kinds of boards.
I have some of them running FreeBSD, too, and they're doing fine. Armv7 is also supported by OpenBSD.

Benchmarks are planned, and this is here for a specific reason 😉
