Is anyone using, or have you used, @fedihost? I see they offer a plan for hosting GoToSocial. I've been wanting to try hosting my own instance and their plans seem affordable. I would love to try and self-host, on my own hardware, an instance, but not sure if I am ready for that just yet.

@chadmccullough@bsd.cafe I always try to host my own instance but I always just shut it down like a couple days in just because I don't trust myself. Lol.

@the_coffee_lover I have, but I don't think they host GoToSocial, do they? Or did I miss it?

@chadmccullough @the_coffee_lover May I ask why choose GoToSocial instead of snac2 or the upcoming littleFedi?

@fionescu @the_coffee_lover Only because I'm familiar with GoToSocial. I've actually not heard of the other two. I will need to do a bit of research, I guess?

@chadmccullough@bsd.cafe #LittleFedi and #Snac are both light weight software that can be run off a raspberry Pi even

@chadmccullough #LittleFedi isn't ready I don't think yet, but I could be wrong.

@the_coffee_lover I think it's very close to being publicly released. You're on an instance using it and it seems very functional already.

@fionescu@bsd.cafe Yes I am and its pretty great so far.

@chadmccullough @fedihost fwiw, I've been running GtS on a VPS for a good while now, and it's extremely boring software, in the sense that you set it up and then... it just runs, and keeps running, and you don't think about it again

of course maintaining your hardware may be a different story, but from the software side, it's probably not going to be a big challenge tbh
