I've been heavily poking at littleFedi by @stefano and quite excited about it.
I wrote about it in another Blaugust attempt: Big hopes for littleFedi. Also available on my test account @shom@littleone.littlefedi.social's post/blog.

Yes, LittleFedi is probably the biggest thing happening in cyberspace in a long time.
Kudos to @stefano and the team for making it happening.
This is really power to the people.
I haven't been so excited by a software in a long time.
When I "met" Stefano online for the first time I immediately commented that this reminded me of FidoNet, a communication system that could be set up by anybody, and it turns out he was involved in that as well.
I think those days marked us forever and I must congratulate him for bringing that spirit back to the internet.
@francois @shom@gts.shom.dev Thank you.
For me, that spirit never faded. The modem's noise was a gateway to something magical, a doorway to a different world.
Things didn't evolve in the way I was hoping, but we can do something to recreate that passion, that idea, that feeling.
We have the tools. We just need the mood.
@francois @stefano I got my first computer after the FidoNet days but the modem was singing songs of handwritten HTML with red text on background, marquees, and under constructions gifs! We need digital spaces that feel like our own. Where we can decorate, be weird, and connect with other weirdos like us easily. It needs to be about self-expression and connection, the technology needs to enable it while being invisible. That's the promise of the Fediverse and #littleFedi is moving that forward and making it even more accessible 💛
*weird = interesting and cool and used lovingly to refer to my people.
@francois I think Tom from MySpace is actually talking about doing just that 😂
I really hope he does so with ActivityPub, that name recognition could do wonders for people discovering fedi.
