Statement of the FreeBSD Core Team Regarding the EU Cyber Resilience Act
The FreeBSD Foundation has long provided legal, financial, administrative, strategic, and operational support for the FreeBSD Project, and is well-positioned to engage with governmental authorities, industry participants, and other organizations on behalf of FreeBSD.
We support the FreeBSD Foundation in serving as an open-source software steward for matters related to the Cyber Resilience Act (CRA). This provides essential clarity for users, contributors, commercial adopters, regulators, and other stakeholders.
We also explicitly affirm that our recognition of the Foundation is inclusive. It is not intended to exclude or diminish the role of other organizations, enterprises, and downstream partners that invest heavily in FreeBSD, including those employing developers to maintain the project's security infrastructure. As regulatory definitions evolve and community contributions change, we recognize that these vital ecosystem participants may also independently qualify as stewards or fulfill other distinct roles within the CRA framework.

@xenotar @elias@rebel.ar @santiago@mastodon.uy @francois #pantodon Uma foto dele cortado para ver como é o miolo. A textura e o sabor ficaram muito bons.

@francois @phoronix@masto.ai Given the current context—the rise of fascism and the use of a chainsaw as a symbol by a fascist president allied with Trump and by the supposedly richest man in the world (who is also terribly fascist)—I would have preferred the use of scissors. This isn't a matter of self-censorship; rather, it reveals a complete lack of connection to current reality on the part of those who chose this unfortunate symbol.
FreeBSD 2.0 was announced in November 1994; however, the first batch of CDs from Walnut Creek, released in January 1995, was labeled "January 1994." Jordan Hubbard decided to give that batch away to anyone interested, and yesterday I found the CDs I received from him. I got this image from archive.org because I don't have access to a scanner. FreeBSD 2.0 was a watershed moment in the history of FreeBSD.
