@stefano @fiend_unpleasant very unfortunate indeed. I don't think the tech Bros have copted the magic wand yet πͺ (not making suggestions by the way, I'm sure there are much better icons)
@fasnix I know. Inertia to get people to change is huge.
But if you build it, they will come...

@stefano @fiend_unpleasant hahaha I wonder if younger folks would understand why a VCR cassette πΌ is the perfect catch-up emoji!
@shom @fiend_unpleasant Anyway, that's the "magic" icon. It's so sad that something like "magic" is now associated to AI π
@fiend_unpleasant @stefano fantastic indeed!
Unfortunately β¨ icon is tainted, I was going to provide feedback around that too. The pin icon also took me a little bit to figure out, kinda looked like a π² and something else π¬
@esoteric_programmer@social.stealthy.club in theory, that's not needed. it should be reachable. but doesn't strictly need a domain. everything is managed via keys.
Lighthouses cannot read the contents, as they will only exchange data, like the Delta Chat relays.
@esoteric_programmer@social.stealthy.club it can be p2p. One you've connected to a lighthouse that is showing you the route, you can directly connect other instances, if reachable.
Algorithm is math not magic
Wonderful example of how to surface information to an user while respecting their privacy, with transparency, and still providing a self-curated experience.
Edit: what happens if I turn a quote post into a blog? Also, did it spam everyone with a notification of an edit? (Sorry, but testing account gotta be testing)

@fiend_unpleasant no AI features here. Good old deterministic computing.
It's a simple algo that will consider the people you follow. At the end of the page, there's a complete explanation:
Why am I seeing these posts?
Each post scores on signals this instance already holds, and the score halves as the post ages. Nothing is fetched from anywhere else, and nothing learns from what you open:
+2.5
per account you follow who boosted it
+1.0
Γ log of the favourites seen from here
+0.8
Γ log of the boosts seen from here
+0.6
Γ log of the replies seen from here
+1.2
you favourited, boosted or replied to this author in the last month
+1.0
carries a hashtag you follow
+0.8
continues a conversation you took part in
-1.0
the post is a reply
12h
the score halves for every this many hours since the post reached your feed
Your own posts, and anything you already favourited, bookmarked, boosted or replied to, are left out. At most two posts per author. Twenty entries, then the page ends: there is nothing more to scroll.
Your blocks, mutes and filters apply exactly as on every other timeline.
@esoteric_programmer@social.stealthy.club yes, exactly. the entire infrastructure (lighthouse, gateway, etc) lives inside the littlefedi executable and is totally self hostable
@esoteric_programmer@social.stealthy.club for now, you need a lighthouse - but you can set different ones and change them

@stefano Thanks for the welcome and the cool software. I do have one question... the catch up feed, is that an "A.I." feature or am I just being triggered by the icon?
@avlcharlie can't have a munch better day than that. I love me a flea market. I do shop pawn shops but I always feel a little bad because I reckon most of the stuff there was not brought there without duress.
@stefano
One thing I'd prefer is, if the compose-field would be more compact (in height).
There's just so much going on.
On the other hand, I like that all fields are written like "visible labels".
Hm ... π€
@francois
Delta.Chat is also my most-loved messenger.
However, via Signal I have the most contacts, yet.
WhatsApp? Nope :)
