What a time to be alive: an instance hosted entirely on an RPi0 !
question. compute power difference with this fanless beast and IBM360 anno 1960s
T430 comes alive
For the record, this is sent using tusky. I will use several soft but i am afraid i have nothing exciting to report yet.
Je vais aussi poster des trucs dans diverses langues pour voir comment il traite les accents etc

So far so good :-)
(This has most likely already been tested but it doesn't hurt...)
@rqm there are some parts that need a review. A couple of fixes and a couple of things I would like to see finished before releasing it. But we’re not far from there.
There’s an also a licensing discussion. It will be open source, but we haven’t found an agreement about the right license to use.
5 4 3 2 1.... Lift off !!!
Houston, I think we have a winner...
Congratulations and Thanks to the team - well done !!!
@pepdmin especially for "personal" or very small instances. Maintaining, for example, Mastodon, even if it is automated with Yunohost, containers, whatever, is very expensive, especially in terms of resources. So much for what I really expect from fediverse, much more efficient pieces of software.
@pepdmin at the moment I also self host GoToSocial from home. What I find fascinating about LittleFedi is, as you say, "the prospect of a lighter, more portable and faster implementation". This intrigues me and holds me back from migrating Mastodon to GoToSocial.
@epn4littlefedi I share your initial sentiments on this promising new piece of software. Currently I am already selfhosting a mastodon-instance via @yunohost@toot.aquilenet.fr and that works well enough, but the prospect of a lighter, more portable and faster implementation of the fediverse on my humble raspberry pi is VERY interesting. So indeed, mille grazie @stefano and team!
Thank you Stefano !
@epn4littlefedi it will be fine for other littleFedi instances. Not sure about other implementations. We can test it in the future. The change is just one line in the config file.
@stefano I guess any more than 4 and you start losing images/complicating Mastodon api federation as well as the obvious extra overhead on the LittleFedi server
Testing some image uploads from yesterdays river hike. Is there a limit to the number of images you can upload?
I'm looking forward to giving the new #littlefedi instance a good going over in the next few days. Initial thoughts are very promising. It's certainly fast! Would love to be in a position to be able to migrate accounts from my cloud Mastodon instance to a self hosted version of LittleFedi. That's the plan going forward. Good work and thanks to @stefano and team.
wow, this looks awesome!
Excited that initiatives like this exist.
Congratulations littlefedi !!
