A square-cropped close-up of a mossy fallen log extending diagonally from the bottom left corner into a shallow creek. The tight framing emphasizes the texture of the bark and the clarity of the water below, creating an immersive perspective.

A wider, landscape-oriented version of the same scene. This crop includes more of the surrounding forest canopy and riverbanks, placing the fallen log within the broader context of the lush green woodland environment.

I like both versions of this scene from the creek out back, but the crop of a photo can really change the feel of a scene, yeah? I typically like wider crops more, but square crops tend to work better for small screens because you don't have to ask your audience to rotate orientation for proper viewing 😅

Looking up at a large maple tree beside a creek, its sprawling branches thickly covered in green moss, with bright sunlight filtering through the dense leafy canopy onto ferns and gravel along the bank.

View straight up into the canopy of a moss-draped bigleaf maple, sunlit green leaves radiating outward from thick lichen-covered branches against patches of blue sky.

A massive, gnarled maple trunk wrapped in dark moss rises from a lush forest floor of ferns, surrounded by tall maple and fir trees in bright summer light.

Now testing a #littleFedi post scheduled 24+ hours ago with more magnificent Acer macrophyllum. I will never cease to be amazed by these organisms and their (many) symbiotes.

Deer gods 🦌🙏 I love these temperate rainforests 💚

A low-angle view of moss-covered trees in the Hoh Rainforest. Thick green moss coats the leaning trunk and arching branches of a bigleaf maple, with tall evergreens and patches of blue sky behind.

Let's test a near-future scheduled post from #littleFedi with this photo of a magnificently moss-laden Acer macrophyllum I came across on a short walk through the Hoh Rainforest to the banks of the Hoh River.
