@farooqkz@bsd.cafe @stefano@rpi0w.stefanomarinelli.it FreeBSD will drop support for armv6 and armv7 quite soon, while NetBSD will continue to support them for a long time. I think NetBSD is more suitable, for those kinds of boards.
I have some of them running FreeBSD, too, and they're doing fine. Armv7 is also supported by OpenBSD.
Benchmarks are planned, and this is here for a specific reason 😉

@farooqkz@bsd.cafe no, this VPS is just a small FreeBSD VPS. The Raspberry PI instance is the @stefano@rpi0w.stefanomarinelli.it 's one. That was affected, too, but on a smaller scale as it's...smaller and one user.
Last night, the VPS load monitoring for this instance showed a progressive increase. On one hand, we were expecting it, as the instance grows. On the other, it was higher than anticipated.
Upon investigating, we realised there was an inefficiency linked to two missing DB views, which was generating a mountain of queries whenever a federated activity arrived. Simply creating them was enough: the CPU load upon the arrival of each status dropped from 80% for two seconds to 0.50% for a fraction of a second.

I am supervising a second-year electrical engineering undergraduate on a microcontroller programming project using MicroPython. Before he went on vacation last month, I introduced him to wire wrapping. He was fascinated and spent the rest of the afternoon playing with the tool and the wire—making connections, undoing them, and testing things out. This technique is no longer taught in undergraduate programs. I think he’ll love this photo of the first IBM PC prototype.

Many courts are allowing law enforcement up to the court date printed (or handwritten) on citations to file civil traffic complaints, which can sometimes be a month or more after the violation occurred. ARS 28-1593(B) explicitly allows law enforcement only 10 days from the violation date to file.
If you were cited for a civil traffic violation, don't assume it's actually being filed on time. Check with your court of jurisdiction (where the ticket is supposed to be filed, found either at the top or the bottom of the ticket) 10 court days (excluding weekends and holidays) after the violation to see if the ticket was filed. If not, file a motion for dismissal due to untimely filing.
This is particularly relevant in Pima and Maricopa Counties, but there are some courts in outlying counties also quietly allowing law enforcement to skirt the law.

@fasnix That's a fair point. I normally just show them my own fedi instance so they know how it looks like. This sort of thing is not for everyone.. except for those who are really curious about it.
In a way, it's like when someone I know ask me why I'm not on Whatsapp, I just tell them I'm on DeltaChat as my main chat and they can reach me there. If they ask what it is.. I tell them it's a messenging app. If they are curious then good, engagement continues.. else I stop right there.
It's not really my place to try to convince these people about the alternatives. If they are keen to know more they will ask else I just let them be :>
