Close-up photo of a west coast lace weaver spider resting on a weathered wooden stake in a garden. The spider has glossy reddish-orange legs and head, and a large, rounded, silvery-grey abdomen held upright. Green foliage blurs softly in the background.

Spider season started early on the Olympic Peninsula this year. Walking into webs every which way I go isn't my favorite thing in the world, but I do love the opportunity to photograph some cool arachnids. This particular spider is Callobius severus. My partner saved her from drowning, and I captured a bazillion photos while she recovered in the sun.

Legally, they're probably not required to refund the tariffs, sure. But Microsoft and Sony could just not be shitty companies and refund the tariffs.

Insider Gaming just posted:

Sony and Microsoft Say Gamers Aren’t Owed Tariff Refunds

Sony and Microsoft argue they are not legally required to pass U.S. tariff refunds to gamers who voluntarily purchased consoles at advertised prices.

Poll:
I would like to know, if this symbol is well-known outside of Germany?

If you recognize its meaning, please don't reveal it in a comment, just vote "Yes", otherwise select "No".

And please vote only, if you live outside of Germany.

I'm asking for a friend, who told me, the symbol wouldn't be known in foreign coutries.

EDIT:
With only 13 yes-votes and 285 no-votes, I now added an explantion of the symbol in an answer to this post.
Thanks everyone for taking part in the poll!

Today’s littleFedi updates:

  • Strengthened allowlist-only federation: redirects, discovery, deliveries, and hostname handling now consistently respect the policy. (Spoiler alert: there's a reason behind this 😉)
  • Fixed boosts for local-only posts, plus a timeline relative-time refresh issue.
  • Fixed an Android PWA green-bar issue by letting the manifest update normally.
  • Disabling remote media caching now safely clears leftover cache jobs instead of leaving the queue unhealthy.

Oh, as I'm not using Mastodon, I'm not supposed to take part? 🙄

@randahl@mastodon.social
How many of viewers came from Sharkey, Friendica, Hubzilla, Pixelfed and the many more Fediverse software?

It's not only Mastodon.
You know!?

In Firefox 155, which I use, there's no change to the date when interacting with the site. Only a pop-up label appears when hovering over the post, displaying the UTC time.

Yesterday.
Yesterday.
Absolute date.
Absolute date.

@stefano
Just noticed a "funny" behaviour:
In desktop browser, if the window is narrow (like with Vivaldi's "Tile Tabs"-feature) and I interact with a post (like or boost), the date switches from "yesterday" to "Sep 2, 2026, 04:34 UTC", and after a few seconds, back to "yesterday".

Is that intended behaviour?

--

Can anyone confirm this behaviour in their browser?

Edit:
This post is "Local only", however I could boost it?
Would it therefore change visibility to "Public"?
